If in spite of early detection measures for breast cancer 40% of women can expect a recurrence—a situation where cure has become impossible—the question arises whether breast conserving surgery, which is gynecologists’ method of choice these days, may be the cause for such recurrences.

In my opinion, even small tumors should be removed by using radical surgery. This means amputating the entire breast and axillary lymph nodes. This requires a particular, tissue preserving method, which in turn necessitates specialized surgical training.
